Huck Finn Reader Response #3 (Ch. 14 – Ch. 18)

Huck Finn Reader Response (Ch.14-Ch.18)

I think that Huck really likes the Grangerford house. One reason why he likes this house is because the people are real kind and they are active with each other and they get along. Another reason why that is because they have a lot of books that Huck really likes. It shows that they are nice in chapter 17 page 73 paragraphs 4 it says:”Why bless you, Saul the poor thing’s as wet as he can be; and don’t you reckon it may be he’s hungry?”

The books in the house are so special to Huck because he really likes the books that are in the house. He likes books from the biography of doctors and stuff. I think that he was so interested in them because he is an educated person and wants to do something with his life. It shows that Huck is not like his father and that he is a real smart person. To Twain it show that just because you come from somewhere else where there wasn’t a lot of smart people doesn’t mean you can’t be educated.

What is unique in the scrapbooks and stuff is that they all have to deal with death and stuff. To me the girl seems to be obsessed with death and darkness and dying. It significant that she wanted to do three things. One could have been death one could have been help and another one could have been like I reaching out to god or something. Twain describes this so good because he wants to draw attention and bring irony to the book. To me Twain view of death is that people die because of many decision. Huck is touch because he wanted to know how this girl was feeling at the time and why she writing like that and stuff was.

This concludes my essay.

Moral Dilemmas in Huck Finn

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck faces a number of moral dilemmas which reveal much about his character. Well in dilemma that will support the position is when Huck takes Jim in and tries to help him escape from Ms. Watson.
Well in my dilemma Huck has just ran away from home and Huck is on the run. But when Huck is escaping he sees and slave that is Jim and he already ran away. This puts Huck in a hard decision that can affect his life and Jim’s life. Well Huck had and Jim had a lots of adventures there they could have gotten caught this means that Jim could have been lynch and Huck could have went to jail. Huck grew stronger and got more courageous as he goes on but he does fell guilt as the story goes on. Huck did lots of lies and had lots of ways from getting them caught and so far they haven’t gotten caught. In chapter16 page 68 on of the Huck says: “He’s white”. One man ask Huck if Jim was white and Huck lies so that Huck and Jim doesn’t get caught
What Huck did was very hard and it takes a lot of courage and being brave to do that. I favor his decision because it would be the right thing to do in an illegal way but you are changing some ones life and making them a free man.
What Huck did was wrong back in that time but then again it was right. But put your self in this situation. What if your best friend was a slave and she want to leave and
Hughes1
you had the chance to help here leave and be free you would probably do the same thing. It’s hard but then again you are doing the right thing depending or rather what you believe.
In conclusion this concludes the essay on Huck Finn and moral dilemmas and how he choose to do and dangerous decision of helping out and friend and risking your life or leaving your friend and making his life more miserable.

Reader Response 2:Huck Finn (7-13)

Reader Response 2: Huck Finn (7 - 13)
DUE: END OF THE HOUR TODAYFor today's response, you are to write 4-6 paragraphs in which you answer the following questions: How is Huck influenced by the following people: Tom Sawyer, Widow Douglas, Pap, and Jim? Who do you think has the most positive influence on Huck? Negative? Why?You must write at least one paragraph about each person and include the quote, chapter, page, and paragraph number for each quote. (CHAPTER, PAGE #, PAR. #)
skip lines between paragraphs

Huck is influence by many people in this novel. He is influence by people like Tom Sawyer, Widow Douglas, Pap and also Jim. One person he was influence by is Tom Sawyer. He was influence by him because in chapter 1 paragraph 2 page 3. Huck said: “Then I slipped down to the ground and crawled in amongst the trees and sure enough there was Tom Sawyer waiting for me”. Huck Finn was influenced by this because he was told to stay in the house but he was influence to listen to Tom and leave the house.

Another person is Widow Douglas. He was influence by Widow Douglas in chapter 1 paragraph 3 on page 1. Huck Finn says she cried over me and called e a poor lost lamb and she called me a lot other names too but she never meant no harm by it she put me in them new clothes again and I couldn’t do nothing but sweat and sweat. Huck is influence by this because the widow calls him names and she makes him do stuff he doesn’t like. She makes him put on new clothes and that’s something that he really dislike. This cause him to want to leave and runaway.

Another person he is influenced by is Pap. He is influence by Pap because in Chapter 6 and paragraph 6 page 20 Pap said: “And that ain’t the wust they said he can vote.” He said that the slave can vote in stuff and he got mad and was drunk and was being so racist. This influenced Huck because He isn’t racist and isn’t ignorant like that and he doesn’t want to be with someone that acts like that which cause him to runaway.

My last one Is Jim. Huck is influence by Jim because in chapter 11 paragraph 2 and page 41 Jim says to Huck:”Then he studied it over and said couldn’t I put on some of them old things and dress up like a girl”. In this quote Jim ask Huck if he can dress up like and girl so he can go to town and see how everything is going and what everyone is saying. He is influence by how the way he went and did what Jim.

The most positive influence on Huck is that when Jim influence him because Jim helps him out and stuff. Jim helps him make good decision and makes him be a better person to me. An the negative influence is his dad all he do is drink and abandon Huck and it is wrong and that’s why Huck is always trying to runaway from his problems because Pap repeatedly drink, beat, his son.

This concludes my essay on how Huck is influence by other characters in the book.

Huck Finn reader response 1:(1-6)

Karl Boswell
Huck Finn Reader Response1: (1-6)
10/10/07

My topic that I choose will be racism. I choose racism because it’s something that is in the book that I can relate to. I have a quote in my book that can relate to my topic. “And to see the cool way of that n why, he wouldn’t a give me the road if I hadn’t shoved him out o the way. I says to the people why isn’t this n put up a auction and sold?” Chapter VI and paragraph 2. I would say in my own words that Huck’s dad said. Why is an black man voting he is an outcast and he is a low life why ain’t he put up for auction like an regular slave?

What he is saying in that quote is very ignorant and very stupid to say something like that. He is discriminating an race it is very racist what he said. It relates to my life because people are very discriminating and racist they call people out of there name just because the color of there skin. They hurt people not just black people but all people.

Mark Twain in this quote was trying to make Hucks dad look stupid and very ignorant. He wanted him to make people look at him like he is a bad guy. He would think that it is stupid and just plain racist. It relates to his life because he gets to deal with it everyday and it’s tiring and he wanted to address it.
